Movement is medicine, in this weeks workout Wednesday you will learn the recommended amount of exercise per week, as well as how to calculate your heart rate range for these goals.

Workout Wednesday, let’s get better! Movement is medicine, and without it many things within us do not function as they should, a sedentary lifestyle can great abnormal tiredness, ill mood, digestive problems, heart problems, the list is endless…

Typical guidelines are as followed:

150 mins/week of moderate activity which is 30 minutes for 5 days. Which is 50-70% of your heart rate max

Or

75 mins/week of vigorous activity which is 70-90% of your heart rate max.

How to calculate your heart rate max? Easy… it is 220-(your age) and then multiply by the target % goal.

Here’s and example with my own.

If I want to calculate my vigorous activity heart rate range (70-90%).

220-23= 197 BMP. 197 x .7 = 138 to 197. x .9 = 177

So I need to have my heart rate between 138-177 for 75 minutes per week.
